We understand that it may have taken a lot of courage to seek help and make your appointment. The important thing that we want to happen is that you feel comfortable and at ease when you come for therapy. Hopefully, an explanation here will put your mind at rest and make your first visit a pleasant experience. Importantly you can be assured that the therapies and techniques that Anne is qualified to use are going to be of benefit to you.
First Session
On your first visit to our peaceful and relaxing premises the first 20 - 30 minutes of the session will act as a free consultation. This allows time for you to decide if I as the therapist am the right person to help you and at the same time it will help me to decide if the therapy I provide is the best solution for you. If after this time everything is fine we can just carry on with the session. Otherwise we can end the session with no obligation.
Each session will last between 50 and 60 minutes. It's hard to determine exactly how many sessions you will need but for a successful outcome using Hypnotherapy and NLP it's usually weeks rather than months.
I will talk to you about the reason you are seeking hypnotherapy and we'll look at aims and goals to help achieve this. I will take a detailed personal history from you which we can do by using a form. I'll tell you a bit about myself and go on to explain Hypnosis to you so you get an idea of what to expect. You'll also have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss any myths or misconceptions you may have about hypnosis.
Hypnosis will not be experienced until the second session as it is important that we treat all our clients as individuals. This means using the time of the first session to take sufficient details so that we can tailor the session to you.
Second Session
We'll discuss the treatment plan and begin hypnosis. Being induced into hypnosis is a gentle, relaxed process, guided only by my voice. There are no pendulums or bright lights. In the hypnotic state, you are by no means asleep, even though you would appear to be. There is a heightened awareness, so you know everything that is happening around you, while still being able to recall very fine details of what you are seeing and hearing in your mind. You will find that hypnosis is a relaxing experience that you will want to experience many times. At the end of the session we will discuss the experiences you have had during the session as this is an important part of the process and we will look at ways you can help yourself to towards positive change.
